We have come a long way since we started out all those years ago and there’s a whole lot more to come. Hitting the digital domain in 2016, Sun & Sand Sports launched its brand new online store, evolving into the next stage of the company’s journey and making SSS the local hub for all things related to sport. 1979
The story began at Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach. While watching a football match, SSS founder, Mr Abdul Aziz found himself suddenly transfixed — and not by the game itself, but by a flying shoe — the result of a ferocious free kick. An idea was instantly born: to invite the freshest, most innovative sporting brands to the Dubai retail market. With every “yes” received, another iconic brand followed. 36 years and countless stores later the trend continues, and all thanks to that visionary flying shoe.
1985
The first UAE store was opened in Al Ghurair.
1997
The Deira City Centre store was launched as the first large format in-mall concept.
2000
The new blue logo came into play, ready to take the company into the next century.
2002
Sun & Sand Sports began to move into new territory across the G.C.C. opening its first store in Oman in Muscat City Centre.
2007
Further Sun & Sand Sports stores were opened across the G.C.C. with stores opening in Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
2014
The first store opened in Kuwait at Zahra Complex.
2015
The concept for SSS 2.0 was born and with it a new logo, a first-of-its-kind digital concept store and a new website. The Dubai Mall store offers customers an innovative retail experience which includes interactive buying guides, digital wall displays, customisation areas and interactive playing zones.
2016
The new Sun & Sand Sports website was launched, creating a starting point for the company’s new digital journey with a sleek new look and feel.
